Columbus, Ohio—Express is the newest company to invest in Besa Promise to enhance its community philanthropic impact.
Created by Columbus nonprofit Besa, Besa Promise is software that helps companies manage philanthropic efforts. Besa Promise manages grants; it manages and tracks associate volunteer engagement; and it provides a global picture of the company’s community impact.
Express has partnered with Besa since 2013 to organize impactful volunteer opportunities for associates. With Besa’s help, Express has rallied 3,231 volunteers to give 8,000 hours to 50 nonprofits, making a total community associate impact of $218,000 in goods and services.
Now, Express joins a growing list of companies—including Big Lots Stores, Inc., GBQ Partners and Safelite AutoGlass—in using the philanthropy management software.
“Besa has helped strengthen our community impact by providing opportunities for engagement and a vehicle by which to sign up and get out there. They have also brought us organizations in need and made connections that we may not otherwise have made,” said Cheryl Hooker, Express Vice President, Human Resources and leader of the company’s philanthropic initiatives. “Now, we are upping the ante with Besa to help us better manage our giving program through Besa Promise.”
Besa Executive Director Matthew Goldstein said it is an honor to team with Express on a greater scale.
“Express was one of Besa’s earliest adopters,” said Goldstein. “It’s inspiring to see the impact of this partnership on the community. We’re thrilled to launch this next chapter of giving back with them.”
Besa is a Columbus nonprofit dedicated to supporting those who need it most by connecting people and businesses with local charities, from food pantries to homeless shelters. Besa offers a portal at www.givebesa.org where Columbus residents can easily find and register for volunteer opportunities citywide; it hosts drives for various nonprofits; and it helps corporate partners manage and enhance their philanthropic efforts.
